Futuramic Tool & Engineering Co., a design and build company headquartered in Warren, Mich., has acquired the former Tower Defense & Aerospace building located at 20101 Hoover Street in Detroit, Mich.
“Futuramic is experiencing tremendous growth, and we are proud to expand our manufacturing base in Michigan,” said John Couch, Futuramic Tool & Engineering Vice President.
The project, with a total capital investment of $20 million, is expected to create more than 100 new jobs with an average wage of $60,000 per year. As a result, Futuramic has been awarded a $600,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. The manufacturing facility is approximately 300,000 square feet and houses the area’s largest 5-axis machine, well-suited for automotive and aerospace tooling.
“This expansion will allow us to broaden our capabilities and provide more comprehensive design and build services to our customers,” added Couch.
Futuramic Tool & Engineering Co. expects to begin production in the new South Campus building by March 2014. This is the company’s second expansion project in the last year. A new office located in Kent, Washington opened in November 2013 to better provide engineering services, technical and sales support to customers on the West Coast.
