Futuramic was proud to host students from South Lake High School during this year’s Manufacturing Day (MFGDay) celebration at our Detroit facilities. The visit gave students a unique opportunity to explore advanced aerospace manufacturing and to see how innovation, craftsmanship, and teamwork come together to support missions to the Moon and beyond.

A Hands-On Look at Aerospace Manufacturing

Students toured multiple departments, including engineering, tooling, machining, and aerospace assembly, guided by Futuramic’s experienced team members. They were able to witness the precision and scale of aerospace production, including the critical role Futuramic plays in building tooling and hardware for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), and Artemis missions, as well as supporting programs across the Aerospace and Defense industries.

From state-of-the-art equipment to the craftsmanship behind large-scale tooling, the visit showcased both the technical skill and collaborative spirit that define advanced manufacturing.

Positive Impact on Students

Following the visit, Christine Kingsley, Counselor at South Lake High School, shared how meaningful the experience was for the students:

“Thank you so much for hosting us today! Our students really enjoyed the tour. I heard about their highlights on the bus back to school. They enjoyed all of your stations and thought it was very nice of everyone to volunteer their time. Several hands went up when I asked about applying at Futuramic after graduation, so I know you made a positive impact on our students today! Special thanks for the gifts and for taking the time to start the car for them—they loved that!”

Her words highlight the value of MFGDay in bridging the classroom-to-career connection and inspiring students to see manufacturing as an exciting and accessible career path.

Building Tomorrow’s Workforce

MFGDay is celebrated nationwide to inspire the next generation of manufacturers, and Futuramic embraces the opportunity each year to connect with local students. By offering them a close-up look at the aerospace industry, we aim to show how careers in manufacturing are innovative, rewarding, and essential to advancing technology and exploration.

Looking Ahead

Futuramic thanks South Lake High School for joining us for MFGDay 2025 and applauds their students for their curiosity and enthusiasm. We remain committed to supporting educators, students, and our community by fostering opportunities to build the future workforce of aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
